pair of WMF Ikora candle holders. Ikora art glass was developed by
Karl Wiedmann and
manufactured by the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) company
in Germany during the period of 1926 - 1954. The internal decoration
was made possible by using powdered glass of different colors encased
in crystal. The use of silver salts and chloride created the trademark
bubbles of various sizes and shapes. Most Ikora glass was manufactured
before World War II. These particular candle holders were manufactured
postwar within the U.S. occupation zone in the years 1946 - 1948. They
still have the "U.S. Zone" sticker on the inside. They were
imported into the U.S. by the American Farberware company. The candle
holders are very rare. They are in excellent condition with no chips
or cracks.
