| When Victor Durand died in
1931 so did his art glass business. His business partner Evan Kimble
was convinced to keep the shop open one more year to produce a new
line of glass that was similar to Steuben's Cluthra. It was made in
a similar manner using a powdered glass formula that called for lots
of bubbles in the batch. It was produced for about a year and then
discontinued. Kimble glass was signed with a "K" in a similar
manner that the "V" was used in Durand's glass. Kimble glass,
especially multicolor varietys with handles are very rare and hard
to come by. This was probably one of the last pieces made since it
never received that engraved signature. It has a polished pontil. Although
unsigned this is Guaranteed 100% to be Durand / Kimble glass. At some
point in it's life one of the handles snapped off and was re-attached
with some sort of epoxy. I think these 2 handled versions were prone
to damage because I've come across 2 other with the handles missing
completely. It's in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
