Interesting facts about Fry FOVAL glass!
Who made FOVAL?
The H.C. Fry Glass Co. of Rochester, Pennsylvania.
What does FOVAL stand for?
Fry OVenglass Art Line.
How long was FOVAL produced?
Less than a year. The latter part of 1926 and the early part
of 1927.
What type of colors, decoration and trim were available on
FOVAL?
Plain - Pearl color all over.
Delft Blue trim - found on the handles, stem,
foot and rim of pearl bodied ware.
Jade Green trim - found on
the handles, stem, foot and rim of pearl bodied ware .
Delft Blue festoons - draped loop design within
the pearl body.
Jade Green festoons - draped loop design within
the pearl body.
Pink - limited production color (very rare)

Stippled - Pearl body with stippled effect .
Enamel - some items were decorated with blue,
green and gold enamel.
Sterling Silver and Gold metal - various decorations
were available
and much of the work was done by the Rockwell silver company.
Are there any markings that identify glass as FOVAL?
No. only a label in the form of a gold shield with the words "Fry Glass Co."
What’s the secret to the lovely pearly blue color of FOVAL art glass?
Aluminum Oxide. Different amounts in the batch varied the opacity
of the glass.
