In the 1880's, Loetz began experimenting with glass formulas to develop a type of glass that would imitate the appearance of semi-precious stones. The result was a series of glass referred to as"Marmorierte glas" which basically translates to "imitation stone". This particular vase features a rare pink onyx coloring with beautiful hand enamelled decoration. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is very little loss of the applied gilt.
