In the 1880's, Loetz began
experimenting with glass formulas to develop a type of glass that would
imitate the appearance of semi-precious stones. The result was a series
of glass referred to as "Marmorierte glas" which basically

a rare pink onyx coloring with beautiful hand enamelled decoration.
This vase is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There
is very little loss of the applied gilt.

Wow! This piece of art glass
should be in a museum! The workmanship is incredible!I'm having a
hard time attributing it though. The engraving work is stunning and
reminds me of many Moser pieces I've seen. The three green trailings
attached
to the top are reminiscent of work produced by Harrach. It's obviously
Bohemian in origin and it was definitely produced by one of the top
producers. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

Very rare feather painted
silhouette vase designed by Adolf Beckert for Friedrich Pietsch. The
term "Feather painting" was given to this form of decoration
because the artist used a
very fine brush to produce these highly detailed works
of art. This vase has 4 different panels which feature a man and a
women in various "courting" scenes. Each panel was acid
etched before being painted. See pages 100-101 of Truitt's "Collectible
Bohemian Glass 1915 - 1945" for other examples of this beautiful
glass. This vase is in excellent condition with no loss of decoration.

Absolutely stunning Steuben
Strawberry Mansion vase. This vase appeared in the last catalog of
the Steuben Glass Division in 1932, the end of the Carder era. The
name "Strawberry Mansion" was given to this line of glass in honor
of the restoration of the historic Strawberry Mansion in Philadelphia
in 1931. The
restoration
commitee was searching for a crystal dinner service for the newly restored
mansion and Steuben Glass division was contacted to provide it. This
vase is huge! measuring 13 inches tall and 9.5 inches across the top.
It features applied "M" handles on each side. It's beautifully engraved
around the top and features a Federal eagle motif on the front. The
lower part of the vase and base has a number of oval cuttings. It also
has a polished pontil. The vase is in excellent shape except for a
flake / very small chip off
two of the corners and some minor water stains that could
be buffed out with a little effort.

Here's a beautiful Art Nouveau
perfume with sterling silver overlay. The glass blank is Steuben's
#1455 melon ribbed design with a polished pontil. Both Alvin and Gorham
purchased
Steuben blanks for decoration. As far as the numbers go, theres a "571" engraved
on the bottom of the stopper. Stamped on the silver on the base is "9../1000" a
hallmark and "4675-2". The perfume is in great shape with
no chips or cracks. I haven't touched the silver overlay and it could
use a good cleaning.
